Beachfront Getaways for the Holidays – Visit Singer Island Nov 30

Why risk getting snowed-in back home? Why spend 15 minutes every morning “warming up” the car? Why wear three layers when all winter long we’re only wearing one? Why bother?

Come to sunny Singer Island, Florida, where we tan on Christmas Eve and we surf on New Year’s Day. Whatever the holiday, celebrate this year with a tropical twist on Singer Island, just minutes from trend-setting West Palm Beach on Florida’s East Coast.

Christmas on the Beach - Hilton Singer Island Hotel

From quick weekend retreats to week-long holiday getaways, we deliver beachfront pleasures big and small. The Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort is located on a pristine, golden stretch of private beach, just for our guests, and we’re equipped to help you get the most of it. Rent a Jet Ski and tear up the waves, or see what’s going on beneath the surface with a fascinating snorkeling excursion. Or, rise above it all with a breathtaking parasailing adventure.

(And of course, cozy beachfront lounging in one of our reserved chairs is always a pleasurable option, day or night).

At our Singer Island hotel, we’re delighted to offer a full-service experience so that guests who never want to leave the resort don’t have to. On-site you’ll find delicious dining, both room service and upscale casual at our dine-in option, Coconuts on the Beach. Business matters are never a problem thanks to our fully-resourced Business Center, and we provide a gift shop on-site for any forgotten sundries.

Of course, none of this is to say you shouldn’t get out there and explore the all the things to do in West Palm Beach, Florida and Singer Island. Incredible shopping, fun holiday events, first-class golfing, museums, and lots for the whole family. It’s no surprise that some guests travel to Singer Island for the holidays every year.

Havana – Best Restaurants in West Palm Beach, FL Nov 23

West Palm Beach residents and travelers alike aren’t looking for style over substance. It’s not all about a pretty place to be seen. According to voters on TripAdvisor, the best restaurants in West Palm Beach, Florida aren’t super-trendy molecular gastronomic cafés serving $50 foie gras or pompous beef castles. The best restaurants are the little joints serving authentic food with a side of personality, all at a fair price.

The top-voted restaurants include a local art pub, a sweet little Thai place, and my personal favorite, Havana, a Cuban paradise in the heart of West Palm Beach.

When you think Cuban cuisine, you might stop at the classic Hangover Helper, the Cuban sandwich, and for sure Havana makes a good one. But Cuban cuisine is so much more than a greasy sandwich. Spanish and African staples have melded with Caribbean and even Chinese influences to create a fragrant, succulent and often surprising cuisine, rich with spice and earthy satisfaction.

Havana Restaurant in West Palm Beach, FL

Havana is nothing if not crowd-pleasing. Safe, more “Americanized” tastes dot the menu for the less adventurous, with these preparations given just as much love as the more authentic entrees and sides. Still, I urge you head towards the gamier side of the menu.

Don’t miss the Masitas de Puerco Fritas, tender chunks of top quality pork marinated in garlic and deep-fried. A real “Wow” of a dish. The Pargo Entero Frito is another fried masterpiece, a whole snapper well-seasoned and deep-fried, topped with spicy onions.

Whatever you get, make room for one of several delicious plantain preparations. They serve them slice and deep-fried, sweet or starchy. The Tostones Con Mojo, green plantains in mojo sauce, are probably my favorite.

It would also be a crime to leave out dessert. I’m partial to the flan, served impossibly creamy with just a hint of snap (I get mine with coconut), but without a doubt the crowd favorite has been and will continue to be the Tres Leches cake. The Havana version is super-simple, no uppity presentation here, but the flavor is what counts in this ultra-rich dessert.

Are you ready for something really cool? Havana is open 24-hours a day. Sort of. The dining room runs regular lunch and dinner hours, but the restaurant operates a walk-up window 24/7. That means you can get sensational Cuban-style tamales when you need them most: three o’clock in the morning. The window doesn’t serve the entire menu, but they’re plenty of items available perfect for late night. Love this!

Havana Restaurant is located at 6801 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, FL, 3405 and is open daily. View menu and more here.

It’s just not a trip to West Palm Beach without an authentic Cuban meal at Havana. Don’t miss it the next time you stay at the Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort near West Palm Beach, Florida.

Lilly Pulitzer Fashion Show at Palm Beach Gardens Mall Nov 18

Lilly Pulitzer (the dress, not the person)

Save the animals, and look a little fabulous doing it, this December 3rd at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall. Starting at 6:00 p.m., the Bloomingdale’s will host a catered cocktail party and Lilly Pulitzer Fashion Show featuring a collection from Pulitzer’s latest line, “Escape to the Water’s Edge”.

Although Lilly retired from all but consulting roles in 1984, her spirited, colorful clothing continues to gather new fans every year. Guests of the show will have the opportunity to meet Lilly Pulitzer President James Bradbeer, Design Director Jane Schoenborn and Ladies’ Designer Mira Jarvinen, as well as animal ambassadors from the Palm Beach Zoo.

Why? Because 10% of all Lilly Pulitzer sales made during the event will be donated to the Palm Beach Zoo. A chic new outfit for you and a good deed done for a great zoo, there’s so many reason to check this one out!

The Lilly Pulitzer Fashion Show will be held in the Bloomingdale’s at Palm Beach Gardens Mall starting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3. You can learn a little more about it here.

Ragtops Museum in West Palm Beach, Florida Nov 16

Maybe the only thing more beautiful than a golden sunrise peaking up over the horizon off the Singer Island coast is the sparkle off the hood of a freshly waxed ‘58 Corvette. Chrome grill, 283-horse fuel-injection V-8, cherry red leather matching the paint – you can find this beaut and countless other gems at the Museum of Ragtop Motorcars in West Palm Beach, Florida.

At first a specialty dealership for vintage rides and the enthusiasts who love them, the Ragtops Museum has grown enormously since 1980 to encompass three buildings and two city blocks with event facilities, nostalgic dining entertainment and, of course, a museum of classic cars spanning stretching as far back as the 1930s.

Corvette

The collection is simply stunning:

1936 Chrysler Airstream Convertible Sedan
1938 Oldsmobile Sedan
1940 LaSalle Series 50 Sedan
1946 Chevrolet Pickup Street Rod
1950 Ford Hot Rod Woody Station Wagon
1961 Jaguar XKE Roadster
1962 Chrysler 300 H Hardtop Coupe
1964 Buick Skylark Convertible
1965 Willys Gala Surrey Jeep
1966 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible
1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible

And so many, many more (are a lost of these vehicles are for sale, too!)

The Ragtop Motorcars Museum also features a soda bar, recreation of a classic drive-in theatre, and two rentable events venues fashioned after the 1920s or the 1950s.

The museum is open for public viewing Wednesday through Saturday, by appointment Monday and Tuesday, and is always closed on Sunday. Suggested admission (by donation) is $5. Learn more.

However, in just a few days, CityPlace will become so much more magical. Drop by the evening of Saturday, November 14 for the official holiday kick-off and CityPlace Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Final Pursuit Charters – Deep Sea and Sport Fishing in Florida Nov 06

Fishing, one the oldest struggles of man versus nature. An able fisherman uses a fierce combination of technology, practiced know-how and unbreakable will to land that tale-making catch. Only with a concerted effort can one achieve over the briny depths.

Fortunately for you, at Final Pursuit Charters in Riviera Beach they take care of the first two. All you have to bring is the passion.

Final Pursuit

Final Pursuit Charters is a high-end, private fishing charter company specializing in the big catch. Captain Ed Suker takes parties no larger than six out into the coastal Atlantic in search of Blackfin Tuna, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), massive Sailfish, Shark, Kingfish and the prize of all prizes, the Swordfish. And he gets the results! Monster catches, up to 25 lbs. even, are a fairly regular sight. Check some photos.

You’ll load up onto the Final Pursuit at Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach. She’s a beauty, equipped to the nines for a full and successful day of Florida sport fishing. Twin Evinrude E-tec 200HO engines get you out to the fishing waters fast, and a full StrataGlass enclosure keeps you away from the nastier elements. On-site, a hi-tech Fishfinder weeds out some of the guess work, but really it’s Captain Ed’s years of practice that’ll have the fish nipping in no time.

Half-day offshore fishing charters will run you $400 and include tackle, bait, bottled water and soda. Full-day charters bump up to $700 and include lunch as well. For the truly game, Swordfishing trips present the most challenging (and rewarding) experience at $800 for a full day (or night). $50 charge for each person over 4, to a max of 6. Custom cruises are also available.

If you want to catch fish, Final Pursuit Charters out of Riviera Beach is the place to go. Learn more about it here.

Florida Golf Vacations – Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course Nov 04

While most of the country has already started pulling out the heavy sweaters, South Florida is warm, bright and perfect for a gratifying game on the green. On your next South Florida vacation to the Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort, bring along your clubs for a round or two at Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course.

Golf Course

This scenic par-72 in the upscale destination of Palm Beach Gardens was designed by local course maestro Roy Case, who owns and designs for Case Golf Company right here in West Palm Beach. His work has garnered awards and prestigious rankings all up and down the east coast, but we must say this is one of his best.

Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course offers the affordability of a municipal course (which it is), but the quality and organic spirit of a private resort. For over 6,500 yards, the course winds its way through natural preserved Florida wetlands, one of only a select few Florida golf courses to do so. Marshlands, palm trees and beautiful southern pines nestle the fairways for a fresh, tranquil atmosphere.

The course is challenging, but not so as to ward off casual and novice players. Well-defined elevation changes and smooth lines prove favorable to every level of golfer, and the price is certainly right for brining along sons and daughters wanting to get into the game. Four sets of tees help, too.

The Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course is open daily. Rates vary from $31-$44 depending on time of day and your residence status. Practice facilities, driving range and club house on-site. Learn more.

Stay at the Hilton Singer Island Hotel on your next Florida golf vacation. From golf packages to delightful dining, your enjoyment is our only priority.
